LISTEN TO THE iron! Listen to the iron
'Tin tin tin tinny tin tin' as Shurwayne
Winchester 2005 Road march song Dead
or Alive soared above the surrounding
trees hypnotising all the revellers.
A dusty, stony road cooled by the lush
greenery and scenery beckoned all to James
Bond beach. We park, lock doors, "R-ss Dippy,
whe mi key"Gary frighteningly enquired.
We were locked out but 'Beach J'ouvert 2005'
opened her wide doors to the many sights
and wonders that awaited a starving gawker
having his first experience.
Like Alice in Wonderland, a dream world
was revealed, showing the Queens of Hearts,
the Mad Hatters, Tweedledees and Tweedledums.
Face paint, body paint, booty paint, paint
on paint.
Show us where babies feed! With a jump
and jiggle, bubble and wiggle, one was kept
abreast of all the happenings.
'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice.
A kaleidoscope of colours creating a mosaic
of a human portrait lurched, stumbled, wined
all over, trampling the now coloured grass.
Voluptuous, nubile beauties and not so beautiful
ones showcased their 'ass-ets' which firmly
lingered long after they wined away.
Feeling bold, ready to wine.
Alice: You don't seem to have much riding
practice.
What makes you say that?
Alice: You keep falling off your horse!
A dry-land party shored up with copious
amount of liquor and swimsuit clad ladies
gyrating in an empty swimming pool. Short
shorts purring and humming their contents
as their owners danced trance-like to the
drumming.
Alice: You have to tread with care when
dealing with cats. They have influence and
are seen in all the smart places.
Easing the tension
With a starlit sky and a sexy full moon
providing a surreal backdrop, Imij and Co.
took the stage at 6:40 p.m., Saying goodbye
to the afternoon, saying hi to the dusk
and welcoming the night. Roaring and prancing
with seductive seductress Michelle Xavier
X-ing out her spot, the band performed their
melodious lyrics.
Easing the tension was what they did as
they performed for a solid hour non stop,
mixing soca with reggae and hip hop and
encouraging the willing crowd to dance away
into the waiting arms of the night.
Lil' Bitts followed after an hour of music
from Sparkles Disco and she is one wee woman.
Standing short at about 5' 2' Lil' Bitts
grew tall as she spun it out with Spin
It Out and Groove Mi. Dressed
in a lil' white skirt showing her lil' legs,
Lil' Bitts chewed off more than a lil' bit
by performing a high energy set.
KMC , the ragga, soca singer came with
his Voodoo feeding the massive with Rough
Wine , First Experience and had
flags, shirts and limbs waving with carnival
rags. His first experience was well received.
Wayne Marshall joined KMC on stage and did
his thing and 'choo chooed' his way off
stage. Full of power but letting off no
steam. 'True True true'.
The last thirty minutes Sparkles fizzled
out by playing Bob Marley's Natural Mystic
trying to 'run' the non-moving mass of dirty
coloured revellers who screamed for more
music. But, alas all things must end
Drunken bodies swayed zombie-like through
the night, some feeling sick, some feeling
too 'nice'.
Alice: If you drink too much from a
bottle marked 'poison', it's almost certain
to disagree with you sooner or later.
With that sobering thought it was time
to wake up and head out from this painted
wet dream.
