GARFIELD GRANT, THE man charged with the killing of a 19-year-old woman at Devon House last year, was remanded in custody when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
Grant is charged with the slaying of Natoya Robinson at Devon House on December 27 after the accused reportedly slit her throat as she sat with his girlfriend.
When the matter appeared before Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle, the court was told that the file was incomplete as the autopsy report was outstanding. As a result, April 8 was set as the new date for the matter to be heard again. The accused was then remanded in custody until that date.
Grant, 24, is charged with Natoya Robinson's murder which took place on the evening of December 27. Allegations are that at approximately 5:00 p.m., Robinson and Grant's girlfriend met at Devon House. Grant reportedly sent a text message to his girlfriend expressing a wish to spend time with her, however, she refused.
The court heard that Grant found his girlfriend sitting in Robinson's lap. He allegedly pulled her up and both he and Robinson began to fight. He reportedly held her head, used a knife to slash her throat and ran from the scene.
On Friday, December 31, he was arrested and an identification parade was held. He was pointed out and subsequently charged with murder.
