Lady Chachi ready to win

WAYNE DACOSTA's CLOCK WORK looks ready for the big times and will have his last outing among Overnight Allowance company in tomorrow afternoon's fifth race before graduating to Open Allowance company.

An impressive winner at 1300 metres early last month when notching back-to-back wins, the three-year-old American-bred has been catching birds at exercise, beating none other than celebrated stablemate LIL' COUNTRY BOY in a workout Monday morning.

A speedy 1:05.3 for 1100 metres, putting away LIL' COUNTRY BOY in 1:07.1, makes CLOCK WORK a five-star banker at 1200 metres against CHOSEN ONE, who won narrowly at 1000 metres straight two Saturdays ago.

DaCosta should open the 11-race card with CHADMAN, another American who came off a six-month lay-up last month to easily beat SARAH'S FRIEND and JUST SOME THOUGHTS at 1500 metres in a fast 1:32.3.

Reporting fighting fit after keeping GOOD COMPANY honest at exercise in an 1100-metre workout last Saturday, CHADMAN should again get the better of JUST SOME THOUGHTS, who returned to win at 1400 metres.

Jackpots at $1.5m

Super-6 bettors came up trumps again on Wednesday when nine winning tickets turned up with 7-1 outsider LA RUDE and REJECT at long odds of 16-1 in the nightpan. Each winning ticket picked up $70,431, sending the popular bet back to its minimum guaranteed payout of $500,000 tomorrow.

The Pick-9, nabbed only once since its minimum payout was increased to $1m, again eluded bettors even though LA RUDE and REJECT won Pick-9 events. Eight winners proved a handful as 45 tickets were awarded a consolation $1042.50 for seven of nine winners.

Trinidadian jockey Brian Harding should give Pick-9 bettors two less races to worry about in their quest for the $1m jackpot. The smooth reinsman is aboard Anthony Nunes' debutant, LA REINA, who is tipped to get off the mark the first time of asking in the 1300-metre fourth race.

Sired by PAT N JAC and foaled by REGINA SAVAGE, LA REINA is a half-sister to the likes of URAM and last year's Distaff winner, INCORPORATE, has looked pretty useful at exercise, clocking 1:09.2 Sunday morning in an 1100-metre spin and even got the better of CHADMAN in a half-mile gallop.

Philip Feanny's DIESEL should give Harding his second Pick-9 winner. four-year-old gelding was outfinished by WICKY WACKY for second behind SUPER BOY on debut at 1000 metres straight but has caught the eye at exercise. With lasix added for his second outing, DIESEL won't be caught.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 bettors should look to RUN RIVER RUN in the eighth and LADY CHACHI in the 10th as good bets. RUN RIVER RUN is too quick for rivals at 800 metres straight and LADY CHACHI, looked improved at exercise Sunday morning when clocking 1:15.2 for six furlongs and should now go one better after chasing home NUMERO UNO on debut.
