Pete and Pearnel Francis - Francine Black
PETE AND PEARNEL are twins who have several things in common. They look alike, dress alike, think alike and enjoy the same things. They both love the same sports, but Pete enjoys cricket more while Pearnel loves football.
The twins from Mike Town District in Manchester were born on December 28, 1982, only minutes apart.
According to Pete, the older of the two, they sometimes think the same things at the same time. "Sometimes we are talking and we both say the same thing at the same time," he said.
The two have attended the same school since they were small and though Pete has a defect with one of his eyes, people find it difficult to differentiate them.
They do not help people in differentiating them. They each often respond for the other if he is away. "I would answer for him, if he is not nearby and people do not usually know that it's not him," Pete said.
Pearnel agrees with his brother that people find it difficult to tell them apart. "I remember this girl know Pete but she did not know me and she saw me and she come right up into my face to see if is really not Pete," he said.
Pearnel said being a twin has its rewards. "It's great because you always have someone to talk to. You can discuss things together," he said. He adds that he also enjoys it when people try to differentiate them.
However, this has not stopped Pete from wondering what it would be like to be the only person who looked like him. "Sometime I wonder what it would be like not to have a twin, to just be me ," he said.
Pete and Pearnel are not the only twins in their family as they have twin cousins. They are the second to last of four brothers and two sisters who they say have not treated them differently special because they are twins .
Both attended the Mike Town Basic school, Mandeville Primary and Junior High, and May Day Comprehensive High school in Manchester.
The committed Seventh-Day Adventist duo would like to pursue studies at the tertiary level in Religion. "I would want to become a pastor because I love the Lord," Pete said.
"I don't believe in spending so much money to study if it is not for God," Pearnel concurs.
