BEENIE MAN CANCELLED

By GERMAINE SMITH, Staff Reporter

Beenie Man

DEEJAY BEENIE MAN has reportedly had a part of his present UK tour cancelled.

According to initial reports, the deejay had two out of the five dates of his short tour cancelled, due to "safety concerns" as explained by the police in the United Kingdom.

Beenie Man was billed along with Tanto Metro and Devonte to appear at different night clubs in Milton Keynes, Bristol, Nottingham, Leeds and London. THE STAR understands, however, that two of the dates were cancelled by the police.

This was confirmed by at least two of the venues where Beenie Man was supposed to perform.

He was to be at the Empire Night Club in Milton Keynes on Wednesday night, and last night at Club UK in Bristol.

A spokesperson for the Empire Nightclub told THE STAR that the concert was cancelled by the police there, but did not give a reason.

The Milton Keynes police provided little help in seeking clarification on the matter. "If they say it's cancelled for whatever reason then it is, but we wouldn't be able to give out that reason," a representative tersely stated.

THE STAR contacted the management of Club UK in Bristol, where Beenie Man was supposed to perform last night. A spokesperson there stated that the concert was cancelled by the police because of "safety concerns", but declined to elaborate as well.

We were provided with a number for the promoter of the night's event but the calls to this number were unsuccessful, and the Trinity Road police could not confirm whether or not the show was cancelled. A spokesperson there stated that they had no knowledge of the event.

Shocking Vibes' CEO, Clyde McKenzie, told THE STAR that at the time he was contacted by THE STAR, he was not sure what was taking place as news was just coming in to him.

Beenie Man has just returned to active performing on the international circuit since the Bogle murder incident in January. Under heavy security arrangements, he recently did stints in the United States, Africa and he is now in the United Kingdom.
