I want him back

Dear Pastor,

Ever since I was 14 years old I have been talking to this guy. I am now 18 years old. We broke up in February of last year, but we are still good friends.

In December he visited Jamaica. Before he returned I found out that he was just using me for money and love. I love him so much. I really can't believe that he would do this to me. Why do guys have to use girls, especially nice girls?

I am trying to move on, but I can't. He is my first love. I told my friends that I hate him, but deep down I know that I still love him. He is now back in Bermuda and I can't stop thinking about him.

I want to call him, but I am scared. I don't know if he still loves me. When we just met, he fell in love with me and he told me everything except that he was cheating on me. We have been together for four years and I can't believe I have to throw what we have away.

Do you think he will ever call me? Did he ever love me?

Dear Sweet,

If you allow yourself to be used, this man will continue to use you. You said he only wanted your money, but at the same time you are still moping over him.

You are hoping that he will return to you. It seems to me that you do not love yourself. You ought never to love anyone more than yourself.

In intimate relationships people who love others more than themselves get hurt over and over again.

You are a human being and you will not be able to get over this man easily. But after a period of time, you will.

And although both of you were lovers since you were at a tender age and you feel that you can't let go, you ought to know by now that he is only straw and that he is not the best choice.
