WINED, DINED AND RAPED

THE MEN WHO have been posing as model recruits and luring away women to be raped have struck again. This time they reportedly sexually assaulted a pre-trained teacher who was taken from downtown, Kingston last Saturday.

The police said the men have this time expanded their modus operandi as the pre-trained teacher was taken to Burger King as well as a plaza in Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew, before being taken to upper, St. Andrew, and sexually assaulted.

According to the Centre for the Investigations of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), the complainant was walking downtown when she was stopped by a rastafarian who told her that in addition to having the appearance of a model she could make a good receptionist or restaurant attendant. Another man reportedly joined in the discussion and agreed with the rastafarian.

The complainant was allowed to talk on a cellphone to another man who said he was a manager and could provide her with a career in either field.

It is reported that the complainant was then taken to Burger King where she was allowed to sit and have a meal while the men said they would go shopping for her modelling clothes. After Burger King, the complainant was taken to a plaza in Half-Way Tree.

From there, she was taken to a location in Upper St. Andrew where she was made to model as the men video taped her. It is reported that during the taping session, the men reportedly held the complainant and sexually assaulted her while the filming continued.

Third time

This is the third time in a month that the men, posing as model agents, have lured women away and sexually assaulted them. The first two instances happened in December when two girls were taken from downtown and Half-Way Tree on separate occasions and sexually assaulted.

CISOCA said, based on information received so far, it is possible that several men are involved as the rastafarian was not involved in the first two incidents. But they are convinced that it is the same ring as the calls were made to the same person on each occasion.

"We are appealing to persons to be careful and go through the proper channels if they want to be models as these men are still out there and we have been sending out messages but people are not listening or reading," said Inspector Dutress Foster-Gardener of the CISOCA.
