PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD, CMC
JAMAICA AND TRINIDAD and Tobago, boasting credentials as the most dominant teams in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), will clash in a friendly international next month in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The February 2 game is a warm-up for both teams ahead of the Digicel Caribbean Cup Finals in Barbados later in the month, and also for Trinidad and Tobago's preparation for CONCACAF's final round of World Cup qualifying.
The two teams have combined to win 10 of the 11 Caribbean Cup titles decided since the championship was inaugurated in 1989, T&T's Soca Warriors collecting eight of those titles, and Jamaica two.
During that period, the Jamaicans also created history, qualifying for the 1998 World Cup Finals in France - the first English-speaking Caribbean country to achieve that feat.
The game comes as part of a sequence of friendlies for Trinidad and Tobago, the only CFU team that advanced to the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
The T&T Soca Warriors, who open their CONCACAF World Cup qualifying final round campaign with a tough assignment against the United States of America (USA) on February 9, have also booked warm-up games against Azerbaijan on January 21 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and on January 23 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium.
