Where are you originally from?
"We are from Kingston."
How did you get started?
"We know each other from second form, from KC. We know each other from '92 till now, and we know each other from second form right through high school. A Biggie did come wid it fi we start a sound.
Two a wi love music still and we start a sound name Uptempo in '94-'95. About '97, some mix up did gwaan, another sound did start up name Uptempo, and we started a sound name Guardian, But Razz and Biggy start November 2000, and the first play-out was at UTECH, December 15, caan figet dat, and the real bus was at Fully Loaded 2001."
Either of you play an instrument?
Razz: "Well me play piano but a idle thing, but mi interested inna it still. But a nuh nutten fi talk bout."
Biggy: "No, me a learn the keyboard still, but mi nuh really catch it pon a big level yet still."
Give three words that best describe Razz and Biggy.
"Vibes, dynamic, perseverance."
What inspired you to get involved in the entertainment business?
Razz: "Me personally did love the sound thing, Renaissance and Stone Love, and me did love music; me did fascinated with the whole sound thing."
Biggy: "Inspiration come from other selectors, Renaissance and Stone Love, Billy Slaughter, Nico Bam Bam, Delano and Dr. Dre."
What is Razz and Biggy up to now?
"Just more music yuh nuh. Fi right now, our major focus is a mix CD, fi get it on the road, a long time people a pressure we fi a CD. We nuh want drop nuh regular CD, it haffi special."
Do you like the direction in which the sound system
business is going?
"I'd say it's changing, don't know if it's changing for the better in terms of sound system. A whole heap a new people a come in, mi like that still.
New youth like Foota Hype bust last year, with dance like Passa Passa a whole heap a sounds get fi come out yuh nuh; and digital technology, CDs and computer mek life more easy fi we still."
What advice do you have for young disc jockeys starting in the business?
"It's simple, Just love it... don't come in just to make money or hype."
