By TEINO EVANS - Staff ReporterTHE STUDENTS AT the Camperdown High School, Kingston, were greeted yesterday with a special surprise from THE STAR's featured Artiste for January, Macka Diamond.
The deejay dropped in on FAME FM's live outside broadcast (FAME School Rules).
Students had been jumping and prancing inside the school's auditorium from 1 p.m. to the music being provided by Arif Cooper and other FAME disc-jocks. They worked up a sweat, dancing the 'Crazy Hype', 'Chakka Chakka' and 'Weddy Weddy'.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., when Macka Diamond entered the school premises, the focus shifted immediately as the students rushed outside of the auditorium to catch a glimpse of one of Jamaica's hottest female deejays.
Shouts of "Money Oh!" could be heard in the crowd, as scores of students trailed Macka Diamond to a table outside of the school's auditorium where she would be signing a number of autographs.
Long lines were formed by the students, while others pushed and shoved, just to get a view of the artiste. The autographs were mostly done on some small posters that Macka had carried, but there were some students who had their own special places for the signature. One student in particular had the artiste sign his school bag.
After Macka's autograph-signing session, she spoke briefly to Paula-Ann Porter on air, before taking her leave.
Despite the obvious look of disappointment on the student's faces that the deejay was not allowed to perform, Macka said she had a good time interacting with them. "It's always fun to work with the students and I felt really welcome," she said.
