Dear Pastor,
I read your column about the difference of opinion in 'Not daddy's little girl'. Someone gave a comment about the fact that people in Britain use the expression half cast.
Well in regards to your comment that people in Britain only bathe once a week and that people in the Caribbean are expected to bathe everyday, how do you know that some people in Britain bathe only once a week? Can you prove that everyone in Jamaica showers everyday? Is it wrong to adopt customs from other country? That is what it means to 'live outside the box'. Our minds are not open to other cultures because we are stuck with the way we have always known and not open to new things. What does it mean when you say "May God be pleased to bless you." You said that at the end of your response to the reader. Does that mean that God can pour out blessings without being pleased about it? That does not make any sense to me.
Name and address withheld.
Dear--,
Your whole letter does not make sense to me. It is well known that some people in Britain bathe once a week. Some of them would not deny that, so what are you uptight about? I did not say that everybody in the Caribbean takes a daily shower. There are some customs that are good and some that are bad. We must make sure we do not adopt the bad ones. The question you ask about God's blessings does not warrant a response.
Pastor.
