US gays threaten Capleton - Artiste's tour still continues

DANCEHALL DEEJAY CAPLETON and his entourage were reportedly threatened last week as they arrived to perform at a venue in Arizona in the United States Of America.

The deejay, who has been on a tour of the country since early September, was reportedly threatened by a group of pro-gay protestors who had converged in front of the 'Venue of Scottsdale' club in Scottsdale, Arizona just before the show.

Capleton's manager, Claudette Kemp, told THE STAR that members of the group threatened to use gunplay if he decided to perform.

"While we were here in Arizona, some people threatened to fire shots at the venue if he ever came there," she told THE STAR. "Before the show though, the police came there and were on hand to disperse the crowd that had gathered," she added.

"In Alberquerque they came there to protest as well but the show went on nonetheless."

THE STAR contacted the Scottsdale police department, but were informed that only Chief Alan Rodbell, Deputy Chief John Cocoa, or District Commander Dave Marshall could officially comment on the incident. Calls to the extensions of these officers remained unanswered, but a spokersperson said that they could not confirm if a report of the incident was made.

With the exception of two cancelled shows, according to Kemp, this incident plus a move by some sections of the foreign media to smear Capleton are the only things that have been bothering them on a tour which has been going well so far.

"We know that Capleton is not going to kill anyone, and he has done shows without any of these lyrics that they are angry about. Another thing is that they are telling lies on the artiste and misinterpreting his lyrics. I asked a reporter here in the U.S. recently if anyone has listened to Capleton's lyrics and killed anyone, and she could not answer me."

Capleton's tour will continue in the United States until the end of this month.
