A Sweet Looking Guy

By JIMMIE, STAR Racing Writer

TRAINER NORMAN PALMER'S barn seems to have hit top form, CAT LEGEND winning by 10 lengths and 56-1 outsider MAHENDRA EXPRESS just failing to nail ROYAL DESIRE at 1000 metres straight Saturday last.

Therefore, don't be fooled by SWEET LOOKING GUY's dismal form in six races nor the fact that the chestnut gelding hasn't raced in almost four months.

Lining up against nine rivals in tomorrow's 1100-metre second race, Palmer's SWEET LOOKING GUY has caught the eye at exercise and won't be beaten among Maidens if he reproduces his glowing workout form.

SWEET LOOKING GUY bled through lasix when he last raced on June 12 but Palmer, who acquired the gelding and stablemate CAT LEGEND on a lease, seems to have straightened him out by removing the visor and fitting a tongue-tie and figure-eight.

The three-year-old gelding has looked vastly improved at exercise, clocking 35.3 for three furlongs on the round yesterday morning and an easy 1:02.2 out of the gate down the straight alongside CAT LEGEND last week Tuesday.

CAT LEGEND was a 10-length winner among non-winners-of-two Saturday and SWEET LOOKING GUY, who comes in at 51.0 kilos due to apprentice Garfield Morgan's four-kilo claim, should easily frank that form.

Jackpots at $1m

ROYAL DESIRE stumped most Pick-9 players but that didn't stop Super-Six bettors as there were 24 winning tickets with the 13-1 outsider intact at the end of the day, each picking up $29,092.90.

Both jackpots are at their minimum guarantee payouts of $500,000 each tomorrow, giving punters a million reasons to get their bets on.

SENOR GATO in the third at 1200 metres and RAWHIDE KID at a mile in the fourth are sure-fire bankers. The American colt SENOR GATO, who was nosed out at the line by CLOCK WORK at 1000 metres round late August, should make amends. He's moving sweetly at exercise, clocking 1:07.4 for five and a half-furlong two Sundays ago and 1:01.2 on the round five last Friday.

RAWHIDE KID ran a big race when reporting among non-winners-of-two two Saturdays ago, three and a half-length second behind MOST WANTED at 1300 metres. MINISTER OF FINANCE, who disputed the lead to the top of the lane in that event, returned Saturday to romp home in a fast time at 1100 metres Saturday.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 bettors can look to PROCEEEDACCORDINGLY to complete a quick hat-trick in the first race at a mile. The eight-year-old gelding is down in class after beating RAPIDASH on a $300,000 tag a month ago and should stroll home under jockey Charles Hussey.

Close those bets with fit LADY PHAGWAH in the fifth at 1300 metres and INTROSPECTION to go all the way in the sixth at 1100 metres.
