AN INMATE AT the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Service, 40-year-old Gladstone Bisnott, has been charged in connection with prank bomb-threat phone calls to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court in April, authorities say.
A Senior detective from the St. Andrew Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) slapped Bisnott with additional charges of creating public mischief and attempting to pervert the course of justice on Friday.
The accused man who is a defendant in a case of fraud, should have attended court on the April 13, 15 and 22 but, according to reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), used his cellphone to make anonymous calls about a bomb planted inside the court.
Following investigations the ruse was discovered and Bisnott was identified as the culprit.
The caller had told the court officials that he intended to blow up the courthouse as a direct attack on Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle and Clerk of Court Hansurd Lawson. However, the police did not find any explosives after bomb experts combed the court and its precincts.
