
file - Commissioner Francis ForbesTHE ISLAND SPECIAL Constabulary Force held a commemorative service at the East Queen Street Baptist Church in Kingston on Sunday, September 26.
The service culminated a series of activities put on by the organisation in celebration of its 54th anniversary. The theme for the celebrations was 'Giving God Thanks For Accomplishments'. Among those present at the service were Commissioner of Police Francis Forbes, Mayor Desmond McKenzie, Commandant of the Island Special Constabulary Force Osmond Bromfield, Errol Greene, chief executive officer of the Kingston City Centre Improvement Company, Deputy Commander James Golding, retired Commandants Rainford Harding and C.N. Powell and other distinguished guests.
Commissioner Forbes commended Commandant Osmond Bromfield and his organisation for its contribution toward nation building. He also paid homage to the brave men and women of that noble institution who paid the ultimate price in service to their country.
Commandant Bromfield in his address said because of the level of violent crimes being experience on a global basis with Jamaica being no exception, the ISCF must continue to be resilient. He said the membership must embrace the far-reaching changes currently taking place in the organisation if they are to fulfil their mandate. He mentioned that the level of order now existing in the once-congested downtown Kingston is a testament to the yeoman effort of the Island Special Constabulary Force.
The sermon was delivered by the Rev. Roy Henry, rector of the East Queen Street Baptist Church. Following the church service, there was a 'March Pass' which saw the general salute being taken by the Commissioner.
