Strong Jamaican field for CAC Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships

DWAYNE HYLTON, WHO won the Junior Mr. Jamaica Bodybuilding title last Saturday, will be pumping his way to gold at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.

Hylton, who earlier this year won the Novice Mr. Jamaica, will be one of five men competing in the champs set for September 29 - October 3 in Guyana. His fellow weightlifters are Daniel Chisholm, Henry Graham, Cecil Beacon and Worrell Brown. Three women, Crystal Wilson, Jacqueline Melville and Catheline Lobban, will also contest the Miss Fitness category.

Special diet

Hylton works from the Body By Design Wellness Centre which he owns and manages. In preparation fo the CAC champs, Hylton said he would be increasing the poundage and paying special attention to his diet.

"I'm increasing the amount of weight I use to train with and training in splits now - two days on and one day off." Hylton said.

"In addition to that I have to watch what I eat. My carb intake is high right now and right before the competition I'll begin cutting back so that I can get that ripped look. My protein intake is also important. I consume about 350-400 grams of protein per day." he added.

Confident

Hylton has been weight-lifting for 13 years but only began lifting competitively at the beginning of this year. He squats 460 pounds, bench presses 380 pounds and leg presses over a 1000 pounds.

At 5' 11" and 196 pounds, Hylton said he is confident about doing well in the Championships. "I'm very confident," Hylton said in his uncanny English accent.

"I've done my research and seen some of the guys that were in it last year so I'm pretty confident I can go and win my class," Hylton stated, who will compete in the light heavyweight division.
