Man arrested in gun find

By RASBERT TURNER, STAR Writer

A 19-YEAR-OLD MAN was charged following the discovery of a German Luger pistol by the Spanish Town police yesterday, the second in 72 hours.

Reports reaching THE WEEKEND STAR say at about 12:45 p.m. a police party was on patrol in the Gordon Pen area of St. Catherine when, on reaching Church Road, they spotted the man walking.

He was accosted and searched and the firearm, with four .380 cartridges, taken from him.

He was taken to the Spanish Town Police Station where he was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. His name has been withheld pending further investigation.

This latest seizure follows that of an AK 47 assault rifle seized during an alleged shootout between gunmen and police in Spanish Town on Monday night.
