DON CORLEONE IS changing things a bit for this year.
Since 2004, the young producer has dropped the 'Mad Guitar' rhythm for the dancehalls, but has gone full circle to produce a slower instrument based roots rock rhythm.
Corleone told THE STAR that he has a one-drop rhythm coming out soon with a string of roots rock artistes recording on it. So far, he has recorded Morgan Heritage, Maxi Priest, Gentleman and Sizzla, and has a list of others set to record soon.
"You have to change it up sometimes, and look for a different sound and get some different artistes than what everybody else voicing," he explained. "That mek the business stay interesting."
He added that while working on this, he has already begun to record tracks for another Sizzla album. "The ones we have done so far are slower, more love- based tunes but we not finished yet," he noted.
Dramatic entry
Corleone, it seems, has not slowed down since making a dramatic entry into the producing business in 1999. Since that time, he has produced the 'Mad Ants','Crazy', 'Egyptian' (with Daniel 'Blaxx' Lewis), 'Big Kahuna', and Krazy Good To Go. Added to that, he produced 5 tracks on Elephant Man's album Good To Go among them the addictive Pon De River, Pon De Bank which rode both American and English charts, and Signal De Plane. He contributed tracks to Wayne Marshall's Marshall Law and made 'Straight Off The Top' which featured Dispet, Wayne Marshall and Vybz Kartel, on the 2003 Def Jamaica dancehall/hip hop compilation.
Late last year, he completed Sizzla's 2003 album Rise To The Ocassion, Vybz Kartel's Up To Di Time and since then has produced the 'Mad Guitar' rhythm.
"I can't stop working, 'cause this is just something I have a love for from long time. Once I love it I can't stop," Carleone told THE STAR."
