TOO EVIL TO BURY Machete-weilding murderer still at dead house

By ANDREA DOWNER, Staff Reporter

THE HACKED BODY of the machete wielder Caston Haase who murdered three children nearly eight weeks ago has yet to be buried. And his family really could not care less - they have refused to bury him.

"A who you tink a go spen' money fi bury dat?" one of Caston's niece asked rethorically after the tragedy in Mavis Bank, St. Andrew.

Caston was chopped to death by angry members of the community, eight hours after he killed the three defenseless little girls, two of them seven years old and the other only five months.

Three other persons including Hermalyne Taylor, Haase's sister and the mother of two of the children were hospitalised with serious wounds.

The girls were laid to rest on April 12, in a touching ceremony in Recourse, the community in which they lived. The mangled remains of their uncle however, remains at the Madden's funeral home, unclaimed and unburied.

Bewildered

Ferdinand Madden, owner of Madden's Funeral Home where Caston remains are being kept, confirmed that a funeral had not yet been held for Haase. He said that a post mortem that had been scheduled for Haase had to be postponed on one occasion as no family member turned up to identify the body so that the examination could be done.

When THE STAR contacted 60 year-old Emily Taylor, Haase's mother, the goldenager seemed genuinely bewildered that her son was still not buried.

"Him no bury yet?" she queried.

When THE STAR told her that his body was still at Maddens, she said she did not know if his father, who lives in Portland, has any plans to bury him but declared firmly that she has no such plans.

Her voice cracked at times as she explained that she was still not over the ordeal as her blood pressure was constantly high.

"Mi blood pressure jus' a climb, instead a get low, it jus' a climb," she explained shakily. "Right now mi sick inna bed," she added.

THE STAR was unable to contact Haase's father for comment.

Madden told THE STAR that if no one claims Haase's remains, he will be given a pauper's burial at the expense of the Jamaican government.
