Chuck Fender on a mission

TO CHUCK FENDER, singing and deejaying have significance, and are not just ways of earning a living. "Right now, my aim is to use the music and spread a cultural message to all the youth of Jamaica, and the world," he states.

"The word not just fi reach here, but as far as it can go. I woulda like show certain youth inna other culture seh the 'bling bling' thing dem is not all to life. Life is about other things."

The mentality where material things matter too seriously is what he says clouds the judgment of today's youth and it causes them to lose focus on what life is really about.

"Life is about love, and relationships. Treating yu brother good and helping as much people as yu can. Yu caan focus too much pon material. They are necessary yes, but yu must not worship those things."

For this reason, he has been writing songs which all speak to important issues in Jamaica and the broader world.

"When yu do those songs they last longer, cause the youth dem will always see the message in them.

"Some tunes don't last long because they have no real message in them. When you write quality, they will stand the test of time."
