ALL LINKS WERE intact at 'New Jersey Link-Up' held at LaRoose Entertainment Centre, Port Henderson Road, Portmore, St. Catherine on Saturday night.
THE STAR arrived at the venue at about 1:30 a.m. to find a small but appreciative audience dancing to the early juggling provided by the Stone Love and Fire Links sound systems.
For those who did not want to soak up the music through dancing, they went on top of the balcony to enjoy the ambiance from a vantage point, while others chose to sit the night away with Alize, Moet, Red Bull and a host of other beverages that were in full supply.
It was as if dancehall had recaptured its former glory. Soon after the patrons started to stream into the venue, a group of Japanese came in and immediately took to the dance floor, much to the delight of some patrons and to the awe of others. One patron's remark was: "A wah dis mi a see, you nuh see the Japanese dem out fi tek weh all a di Jamaican dance."
It was about 2:30 a.m, when the 'world immortal' Stone Love disco took the reigns and in true Stone Love spirit, commanded the masses to dance up a storm. The patrons did not disappoint. Sooner than later, it was a sea of sweating, gyrating bodies, with the young and not so young all doing their thing, much to the delight of the cameramen, who were on hand to snap away.
It continued throughout, and even at 5 a.m. patrons were still paying to enter what must have been one of the best promoted and supported dances held at the La Roose venue.
All in all, it went incident-free and must have left a broad smile across the face of the promoter.
