Dancehall music- just noise

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Dancehall music is thought of in two ways, negative or positive. In today's society both young and old persons enjoy and think highly of dancehall music. But in my point of view I think it's just noise.

As a Christian, I think of dancehall music as nothing but some "buga yaga" sounds made by some boisterous, pigish, and unlearnt persons. Dancehall music is like some disease taking over the world that is without cure or prevention. It is destroying the minds of people, and is forcing them to do mindless things.

Some months back at Sting, Ninja Man and Vybze Kartel stirred up a devastating act on stage. What do you think caused this outrage? Obviously it was the lyrics they had lamenting. It was not only Desmond "Ninja Man" Ballentine who got hurt, but fans of both entertainers. The question still remains, do they respect their fans? Probably if they did they wouldn't have started this debacle. Why do the people of this world still encourage them to write rubbish and silly things?

Have you noticed in these last days that the songs written and performed are lacking in morals and values as they only speak of what is done in bed or on the other hand degrade and demoralize the listeners. Since then, small children are somehow convinced that they are adults due to the type of music they are allowed to listen.

Have you ever heard the song "Tek ...gal"? Is that something a sensible person should listen? These things are too disgraceful and should be brought to a halt!!

I am, etc.,
