Dear Elsa
I read your column in THE STAR every now and then. I have it bookmarked in my favourites, and the other day I read this story of that girl and it really touched me. I have a similar reoccurring dream that I'd like to share with you.
It's about stars getting murdered and ganja getting legalized in Jamaica and finally me getting raped in a Jamaican prison cell.
I listen to rap music and dancehall a lot and me and my friends do lots of drugs when we are together. Lately I' ve been having these strange dreams but it might be the drugs, I don't know.
Anyway this is how my dream looks like.
Black rapper
Some white rap star is extorting money from some other rap star who shot and killed a man. After a while he gets tired and demands his money. The white rapper won't give him his money and threatens to have him arrested by the police and send back to prison. That's when the black one decides to shoot him. He in his turn gets killed, after shooting a music video, by another black rapper driving a Cadillac in a driveby shooting in front of the recording studio. That rapper later started some argument with me and knocks out eight of my teeth. Somewhere in between ganja gets legalized in Jamaica on the same date as my birthday. It's a great celebration and I'm smoking the best Kali weed I have ever smoked and was able to obtain 10 seeds of it for my own home gardening. It was the best birthday of my life.
Get raped
Then by force of will the rapper that knocked out my teeth dies and an angel comes to me and says that I have to leave Jamaica or I will get in trouble. Not giving the angel much notice ignore what she has told me and stay in Jamaica. Two weeks later I get taken to prison for a reason that's not clear to me and get raped by three guys. In my dream I see myself laying there face down on my bed with all types of blood coming out of me and realise that I should have left when the angel had warned me to. Isn't that crazy? Maybe I can change that dream and leave just in time so I won't get raped. Do you think that's possible?
