THE MOTHER OF 10-year-old Javino Abrahams is desperately trying to find her son, who has been missing for almost a month.
The child went missing on April 10 when he left home without the knowledge of his relatives.
Javino, a student of the Seaward Primary and Junior High School, was left at home with other relatives on the day in question when he reportedly wandered off.
"It's not the first time he is leaving home on his own," said his mother Leonie Lyston. "The last time he did so the police picked him up in Santa Cruz as he is always taking bus and wandering off," she said.
She said Javino once went missing and was picked up on the Hellshire main road in Portmore by the police.
"Whenever I ask him why he is doing it he just says nothing. And, everytime I decide I'm going to take him to a counselor to find out the problem he goes missing again," she said.
Miss Lyston told THE STAR that the last time her son went missing he went to stay with his father as both parents said they are trying to see if a change of environment would break the habit. However, a few days later he wound up on the streets again.
"I can't figure out what is wrong because he just tells me nothing when I ask. I have called everybody I know to find out if he is there and he isn't there," she said.
When last seen, Javino was dressed in a brown pants and a black pair of shoes. He is of brown complexion and is 157cm or 5ft. 2in. tall.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Javino is asked to contact the Olympic Gardens Police Station at 923-5468 or his mother at 352-4319.
