Ocho Rios complex's future hangs by a thread
THE FATE OF the Little Pub complex in Ocho Rios, St Ann seems to be loosely hanging following a series of events earlier this year.
Roughly a month ago, an advertisement appeared in The Gleaner advertising the sale of the Ocho Rios hotspot. The complex, which was partially destroyed by fire in 2002, is owned by Little Bay Ltd, and is home to several other stores, among them, Reggae Sun television.
Auction
The public relations manager of the Little Pub, Marc Johnson, told THE STAR that the reason for the advertisement was a move by Capital and Credit Merchant Bank to recover money owed to them by Little Bay Ltd.
The attorney representing Little Bay Ltd., Charles Johnson, confirmed that this was so, and said that just before the auction, they got an injunction to stop the auction of the complex, as they were still making arrangements to address their situation.
"We filed in the Supreme Court to prevent the sale from going through last month. This was done, but right now we don't know if they have gone through with the sale or not," he stated.
A reliable legal source, who requested anonymity and did not wish to be quoted, told THE STAR that the auction was to recover loans owed to the bank by Little Bay, but added that the sale did not go through.
They will return to court about the issue later this month.
