U.S. REINS IN BUJU

Buju Banton - File

MARK MYRIE, MORE popularly known as Buju Banton, has had reins put on him by U.S. Immigration officials, THE STAR has been reliably informed.

Arising from his recent conviction on drug charges Myrie had adjustments made to his United States visa recently.

According to reports reaching THE STAR, the changes will affect the way the entertainer manages his tours while inside the United States. Sources close to the deejay said restrictions will be put on the length of time he can remain inside the country when not touring.

THE STAR was unable to obtain confirmation about the status of the deejay's visa but informed sources said the U.S. Embassy's policy will not allow employees to comment on the status of visas of individuals.

Neither Myrie nor his manager, Donovan Germaine, would comment on the issue, but sources close to the deejay said that the changes should not significantly affect the entertainer. What it will mean, according to those sources, is that Myrie will have to adhere to tighter schedules and stricter timeline's whenever he is in United States.

Myrie was charged in December 2003 after police raided his premises in upper St. Andrew and seized five fully grown ganja plants. He was found guilty in March in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. Despite pleas from his legal team, and cries from some members of the public, the presiding magistrate recorded the conviction against the entertainer.
