Dear Pastor,
I am currently living in Florida with my four sisters, two nieces and my nephew. My mother and father are still in Jamaica and they are going through some problems now. My dad is hitting her and spreading rumours about her.
Two of my sisters are not his biological children, so they really don't like him and vice versa. My father goes to church and yet all he does is curse my sisters and their children. My brother had a daughter and he asked my mom if she could stay with her for a while. My dad made such a fuss that they had to send her to a private school, and she ended up being raped by a 15-year-old boy.
Now I am being forced to choose between my mom and my dad. What should I do?

Dear C.S.,
You shouldn't have to choose between your mother and your dad. What you should do is to encourage your mother and father to seek the help of a counsellor. Your father attends church. Perhaps your mother should ask the pastor of that church to counsel both of them.
It seems to me that the entire family need counselling. The problems do not only involve your father but also your siblings. Therefore, they too should be counselled.
