By DEPORTEE, STAR WriterFROM THE TOUGH STREETS of Jungle 12, August Town, Sizzla Kolonji entered stage right at 3:35 at Blazay Blazay, Mandeville under a crescent-shaped moon. Seriously strolling front and centre, Sizzla was in a dynamic mood as his musical angst was so hot, the words off his breath cut right through the large swathe of four thousand strong like a surgeon's scalpel.
His utterances about 'No b...y f...ing and no p....y sucking was greeted with roars of appreciation and this further stoked the fire that was building in this talented performer. Bigging up the patrons, his every lyric was adoringly swallowed by all whose heads, eyes and ears looked up at the small-framed but powerful performer.
Amidst all of this he said "A from night me de ya, Unnu turn up the b....c...t mic."
The sound quality of the mic was poor in his estimation and he launched a tirade of fabrics at the selectors. Championing his cause, the musical Ras explained that "No word is bad and any word that can be spelt with the English alphabet cannot be indecent." Nuff said.
Touching base with some of his recent releases he spun into Can't Keep A Good Man Down, Baby, Baby It's Your Love and the mega- appealing Gangster.
Screeeech! brakes here comes the Inspector. A police Inspector waltzed on-stage and calmly addressed Sizzla who was ignoring the officer. Here is their conversation or here is what the cop had to say.
"Sizzla, I will have to prosecute you," a statement that Kolonji partially ignored like a child being scolded by an overbearing father. Continuing to address Sizzla Inspector Robinson said "You're a good artiste, why you have to behave like that." An indignant Sizzla continued to move about uttering that no words were indecent.
While the Inspector was shadowing him, Sizzla crooned into hard-hitting song I Was Born and on top of his voice he interrupted the Inspector with the opening line 'I was born in the system that doesn't give a f...'.
The now booing crowd took up their master's challenge and bellowed the universally known four letter swear word in response to his lyrics. The goodly Inspector being a calm, wise officer of the law did his duty and walked off. Well done officer.
After five more minutes of performance, Sizzla pushed the video camera of the Music Plus camera man and uttered "Tek the b.... cl...t camera outta mi face" and marched off exiting stage left. It was indeed a Dry Cry to a somewhat magnificent performance.
