Mannings never seemed to be in the match at any point and were outclassed by Manchester. Both teams got off to slow starts. It took Manchester High four questions to get onto the scoreboard. It took Mannings nine. As the section progressed Manchester High began to assert their dominance and were soon leading 6-3. Consequently, at the end of the section, Manchester High led Mannings 8-3. Mannings later got an additional point for an audiovisual question which the judges ruled had been ruled incorrect but was in fact, correct. Mannings had been asked to identify the group Big Timers. However, they responded by giving the name of one of the singers of the group. The judges decided to accept the answer. With the scores reading 8-4 in favour of Manchester, section two began. In this section each team is afforded three one-minute periods to answer as many questions as possible. In this section, Mannings actually started off better than their opponents. Out of 12 questions during the first minute Mannings picked up five points. Manchester could only manage four points from 13 questions. However, from there on it was all Manchester. During the second minute, Manchester secured four points while their opponents could only manage one. In the final minute, Manchester picked up five points. The Manning's could only manage two. The section ended 21-12 in favour of Manchester High. In section three, the buzzer section, Mannings High started off badly losing two points to end up with 10 points. Manchester High in the meantime, added six points to move up to 27 points. Manchester continously beat Manning's to the buzzer chalking up 31 points by the end of the match. Afterwards both teams suggested that they could have done better. "We actually lost the match in sections one and two," said Devon Pryce Mannings School coach. "We could have won as we knew some of the answers but they didn't come out. We planned to put them under pressure as we knew the buzzer section was their strength but it didn't work out. We really expected the match to be closer." Manchester High's coach, Howard Thompson, was clearly disappointed that his team did not manage 40 points. "I'm still not pleased with the performance. They seemed pretty composed but I think they missed some easy questions. I don't know if they got complacent but they could have easily reached 40 points," he said. TEAM: The Manning's School- Tamar Tomlinson (Captain), Charles Brown, Flemoi Gordon and Melesia Hylton. In the next match, Wolmer's Boys will play Camperdown.
