Dear Pastor,
I am a 25-year-old woman. I was living with a man for the past three and a half years. We have a child together.
He threw me out when the baby was four months old. From that he has not been giving me anything for the child. I have two other children that do not belong to him. His mother discouraged him from giving me anything for the child. I am not working. Things are very hard with me. I don't get any help from my other children's father. He is living with another woman. The child is now one year old. I went to the Family Court and they told me to get a certified copy of the birth certificate, but I don't have the money to get it. I have the one that I got at the hospital, but they say the judge will not accept that.
Depressed
I am so depressed.Sometimes I feel like killing myself. I need help. My children need food and clothes. I can't get any work. I don't know what to do. Please pray for me. I don't know how long I can live like this.
K.S., St. Andrew
Dear K.S.,
I hope you will not only take the father of the last child to court but the other man too. Neither of them should escape. They are wicked men. Men must support their children voluntarily. And if they fail to do so, they should be made to support them by the court. I sympathize with you. You are a very poor woman. So its difficult to come up with the money to pay for the birth certificate. Do you mean to tell me that you don't have a relative who can help you?
Do you take these children to church? Do you go to church? If these children go to church you can talk to the minister. Ask him or her for help. What about the godparents of these children? Godparents can be of good help to children. Whatever you do, try your very best to get the birth certificates for all these children and take their fathers to court.
Pastor.
