Children are not sex objects

NO MATTER HOW many times THE STAR publishes these stories and no matter how many times they are heard about, the acts of abuse meted out to our children continues.

Take for example the story carried on the front page of today's STAR. This 13-year-old has been the victim of abuse at the hands of so many men, one wonders how she will ever be able to have a normal relationship with one.

One also wonders what are these men, as a relative correctly states, 'those dirty men,' thinking?

Sexual objects

A 12-year-old and a 13-year-old are babies, they are still children. Imagine how warped a person's mind has to be to look on children as being sexual objects.

The sad reality is that for every one of these stories which are reported there are several others that are never discovered.

Abuse leaves scars. They may be it emotional, sexual or physical and both the abused and the abuser will never recover from its stain.

As a society, stopping abuse has to become a top priority. Those who know of, or suspect instances of abuse - report it. Those who are abusers and have been abused, get help!

It must stop now.
