I wanna have fun, but mom says no

Dear Pastor,

I am getting tired of my mother's bad behaviour. I say this because every time I ask her to allow me to go out with my friends, she gets miserable and says no. I am 13 and will be 14 in August, and I think I have a right to go out with my friends. She only allows me to go out with my friends once a month. That is clearly not enough.

I understand she is protective, but she is too overprotective and I just want her to leave me alone. Sometimes I feel like I want to be put up for adoption and go live with someone else.

Sick & Tired,. St. Andrew

Dear Sick & Tired.,

Your mother is a very responsible woman. She allows you to go out with your friends about once a month. That is good. Some girls your age don't get that privilege.

You are a typical adolescent. You say you want your mother to leave you alone. I don't believe you mean what you say. Yes, you are sassy and you are not rational in your thinking. As an adolescent, you need your mother more than ever.

Be guided by what she says. She loves you.

Pastor
