Elliot bags third National Chess title
 National Master Malaku Lorne (left), was one of only two players who managed to draw with FIDE Master Warren Elliot (right) in the KRY$ Financial Software National Chess Championships. Elliot won the championship on Sunday after scoring eight points from nine games. - Contributed FIDE MASTER WARREN Elliot won the 2004 KRY$ Financial Software National Chess Championship, after playing to a draw with National Master Robert Wheeler in the final round on Sunday at the Norman Manley Law School. Elliot scored eight points from nine games to claim his third hold on the National title. In second place was National Master Russell Porter who finished on seven points, third went to 2003 Champion National Master Shane Matthews, in fourth was National Master Duane Rowe on five points and the top five is completed by National Master Robert Wheeler on 4.5 points. Three players ended on four points to tie for sixth, they include National Master Mark Holness, National Master Malaku Lorne and Bertram Scott. These three players will take part in a tie-break match to help decide who will take the final spot on the six-man team to represent Jamaica at the 36th World Chess Olympiad scheduled to take place in Spain from October 14-31, 2004.
