What's view got to do with it?

JACKASS SEY DI worl' no level. Jackass sey when people a sell lan dem a talk bout 'view, view, view' an a jack up de price pan people.

So, once upon a time a person decided that to build what you want is better than to buy something close to it. She decided to look for some land to buy, so she started looking in the classifieds, calling up people and going through the 'looking at the places' routine.

And all of a sudden she encountered a new bad word - view.

Everywhere she went, some person would tell her about the wonderful 'view' - which then came with a not so wonderful price (well, not from her point of 'view' anyway). She went to a certain place and the man was busy showing her the 'view' of the orange farm below and extolling its properties, like is him own de damn place.

And, sure as faith, the view came with a price.

Then she went to another place, and she was taken to the top of a hill, from which she could see the entire South Coast. And the man started talking about what you could see and how nice it was - and, of course, it came with a price to match.

Now, this land thing is not level at all. First, the land with this 'view' is always on a hill. Hell, it has to be, right? Now, this hilly land is often rather difficult to build on. Difficult? Hell, the bulldozer driver has to do some death defying stunts to get the access road cut and all. And that is before you start digging in with the foundation and putting up the thing you hope to live in.

If the workmen don't drop off the bloody hillside and break their necks.

Cost

So there is more cost on top of the cost that is already being incurred to get this blasted 'view'.

But who the hell said you wanted a view in the first place? You just wanted a piece of land to build a place to call your own. The extraordinary becomes very ordinary when you are 'used to'. So, those lights of the city and stretch from coast to coast become an everyday reality - it aint nothing no more, as Sylvester Stallone would probably say.

So, to make it even more ironic, the view that you paid for, you hardly ever see anymore. Hell, what with working so damned hard to pay for the huge mortgage you had to get to get the vaunted 'view', you have no time to look at it anyway.

So, on behalf of the totally fed up sistren, Jackass wrote a tune (eh-hem, eh-hem, heeee haaaaawww!):

You must understand

I just want some land

To build a nice house

I don't want to see

The lights of the city

It's not a lighthouse...

It's a damn building

Not a damned monument

You must try to ignore

That I want more than that

Woah, what's view got to do with it?

What's view, but a high-priced situation?

What's view got to do, got to do with it

Who needs a view when you can't pay for it?

Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey dem fi jus' leggo de &&##@!! lan' an stop talk foolishniss!

Say your piece!
