A double surprise
The Green twins - Yolande GylesYVETTE MORRIS ADMITS that her twin girls, Tyra and Tyler Green, can be a handful, but would not have them any other way. After all, when she found out that she was pregnant, doctors assured her that she would not be able to have any more children. "They said that I had blocked tubes and that I should have cleared the blockage or else I would not be able to have any more children, but I decided to leave it alone," Morris told THE WEEKEND STAR. But how wrong the doctors were. "One day, I was working at Mother's Enterprise (Fast Food Restaurant) when I fell sick. I blacked out and they sent me home. When next I woke up I realised I was at Victoria Jubilee Hospital and the doctors there told me that I was pregnant," Morris said.
Unbelievable
That was shock number one. The second surprise came a few months later. "I went and did the ultra-sound and the doctor told me that I was pregnant with twins. I was so happy, I couldn't believe it," Morris said. She said she also knew that Delroy Green, her common-law husband and father of the twins, would not have believed her if she told him that she was carrying twins, so she literally took the proof to him. "They gave me my file and told me to carry it back around to the nurse, but I stuffed it in my clothes and took it from Victoria Jubilee Hospital to where he was working at the time. I told him that the doctors said I was pregnant with twins, but he told me that he did not believe me. So I showed him the chart. I knew it was wrong, because the file is not supposed to leave the compound, but I brought it right back," Morris said. Her joy at being pregnant with twins, no less, was tempered by her being ill throughout the pregnancy. On March 28, 1997 Good Friday the fraternal twins were born. Morris decided to give her daughters special names, the names of stars. Tyra was named after famed model Tyra Banks and Tyler named after Bold and Beautiful actress Tyler Moore.
Mix up
However, the hospital mixed up who should have been named what. "Tyra actually should have been Tyler, because her sister had a straighter nose. But what the hospital did was that they named them Twin 1 Tyler and Twin 2 Tyra. I couldn't bother to change it, I just let it stay." Now, the girls are as individual as their names. Tyra, the more outgoing twin, gladly spoke with THE WEEKEND STAR team. Tyler barely said anything. Both girls are in grade one at the St. Aloysius Primary School in Kingston, where their mother confirmed that they were doing well, especially Tyler. "She is all about her book. She always reading her book and doing her lessons. Tyra loves to play, loves to party, loves to sport." Tyra confirmed as much when she spoke with THE WEEKEND STAR team. "I like to play, I like to learn my book," she said. When asked what her favourite subject was, she responded "Learn." Her sister, Tyler quickly interjected, "That is not a subject." Their mother also confirms that her daughters love to fight each other. "They fight at school, they fight at home. They are always fighting," she said. The twins denied this but almost came to blows in front of THE WEEKEND STAR team. Morris praises her children's father Delroy for being there for them. "He is a great dad. I could not have asked for any better. He will come home and cook dinner for us and get them settled before I get home. He really helps a lot."
