THOUGHTS ON THE IMPACT AND DIRECTION OF GOSPEL HIP-HOP TODAY:

"The rhythm is just a vehicle to transport a message. People relate to all different types of rhythms just as we have different types of cultures and races.

The gospel, which is God's good news, when placed on any rhythm, is still the gospel. As God's word says, life and death are in the power of the tongue, so what is put on the rhythm is what will make the impact.

Power of the beat

Many different artistes are using various types of rhythms to say all kinds of garbage and children listen to them because of the beat not really the lyrical contents, but eventually they learn and even sometimes live the lyrical contents of the music.

This is why we as gospel artistes can't allow the rhythms, whether hip hop, reggae or otherwise to be misused. The younger generation of this time will relate to what they hear or see around them and this is why gospel music is making such a huge impact. Thank God for people such as Kirk Franklin who are bold to say Jesus on any rhythm!
