DEFENDING CHAMPIONS HARBOUR View will meet Santos in the semi-finals of the Jamaica National Business Society Federation Cup after they both chalked up wins in yesterday's quarterfinal games.

A Nicholas McCreath double settled the east versus west showdown as Harbour View, from the east, came one step closer to defending their title with a comfortable 3-1 win over Tivoli Gardens.

McCreath struck in the 13th and in the 37th minutes of play, while Harbour View's second goal came from the boot of Daniel Shaw in the 34th minute of play. Tivoli pulled back a consolation goal in the 65th minute via the diminutive form of Lenworth Hyde Jr.

Tivoli coach, Glendon "Admiral" Bailey said it was understandable that his team lost as they were tired.

"Three matches down in Montego Bay in one week, very demanding and it showed out there today," he said. "The guys were complaining about feeling tired but we can now concentrate on the big competition, the one we started the season focusing on," he added.

High praises

Harbour View coach Donovan Hayles had high praises for Tivoli's second half performance but pointed out that his team was at fault as well.

"We definitely did all the hard work during the first half and it was a good thing that we had the goals to show for it because the second half was all Tivoli. I think they maintained their composure and did the right things but we became flat mentally and we need to do better than that," he said.

At the Prison Oval Santos had a shock win over Premier League title contenders Rivoli through a Richard West sudden death extra time goal to pit the Super League team against another Premier League giant in the semis.

At Drewsland Waterhouse struck prime form to get by Portmore United 3-1. Their victory means they will play Village in the other semi final match-up.

Demar Phillips had strikes in the 9th and 41st minutes while Kevin Lamey struck in stoppage time to seal Waterhouse's victory. Earlier Winston Griffiths had a 34th minute consalation strike for Portmore.

Yesterday's results

Village 2 Invaders 0

Waterhouse 3 Portmore 1

Harbour View 3 Tivoli 1

Santos 1 Rivoli 0
