Response to young man who recently emigrated
Dear Pastor, Your response to the young man who recently emigrated to the United States of America is heartfelt. I was in the same position 15 years ago. I also left Jamaica in winter, and the change was not the best thing for me. I cried to go back home. I had the same questions he has, but thankfully, God is always true to His Word. I am in a different part of the States and there are not as many Jamaicans here as in Brooklyn. The thing to focus on is setting goals and having a plan to achieve them. This, my friend, will take your mind off the situation at hand. I know that there is no place like home, no matter how bad it is. Yes, Americans are not as friendly and in many instances love is defined by what you can offer.God is truly a refuge from this type of negativism and His Word will truly be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path if you believe and trust in Him. Remember, trials come to make you stronger. We as Jamaicans are a resilient people, so count on the strength that you have learnt and join the clubs at school. The clubs will provide support. God has seen me through and I know He will see you through also. J.R., New York Dear J.R., I am sure the young man would appreciate your encouraging words and advice. Pastor
