Police harassment

The Editor, Madam;

I am writing this letter to voice my opinion on the sad state that our police force has found itself in. I recently came to the island to celebrate my father's 93rd birthday, as well as to attend a funeral.

During the three weeks that I was there, I was stopped by members of the police force on numerous occasions.

When I enquired why I was stopped, I was told twice that if I wanted not to be issued a ticket or to go to court then I could make a kind donation to them (the police) This I refused to do, and as a result I was issued a ticket.

I love my country, and I love to come visit my family and friends whenever I can, but if this is the type of condition that we must live with, and from people who have sworn to protect us, may heaven have mercy on us.

I am etc,

WINSTON GARDNER
