THE COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE of the Jamaica Football Federation has suspended the St. Ann Football Association Division One pending an investigation into the running of the competition.
The JFF has also summond all members of the St. Ann FA executive to a meeting in Kingston on Monday afternoon (March 15) to deal with the matter.
The decision to suspend the competition was made at a meeting held at the JFF headquarters on Tuesday night and came as a result of a protest lodged by Juventus Football Club against the admission of two ineligible clubs in this year's competition run by the St. Ann FA.
Juventus FC wrote to Eastern Confederation protesting the association's inclusion of Faiths Pen Football Club into the competition after reporting that Faith Pen had not played any football since year 2001 and therefore should have returned to the second division in the parish.
It is also understood that the association had breached the JFF constitution by using twelve teams in the division one league this season instead of the stipulated ten.
The JFF also charged that the St. Ann FA went ahead and started the Division One League without notifying the Eastern Confederation after the Eastern Confederation had earlier written to the St. Ann FA President Danny Beckford not to start the season without their consent.
