Georgia 'Bubbler' Gray - File
WESTERN BUREAU
Well-known Montego Bay dancehall personality Georgia Gray, more popularly known as 'Bubbler', was on Wednesday fined $25,000 or three months after pleading guilty to possession of crack cocaine when she appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.
Grey was arrested during a police operation along Railway Lane in Montego Bay on January 6 (this year). She was reportedly seen sitting on the sidewalk beside a stall, which the police searched and found nothing.
However, when Grey was taken into a house and searched, the police said a plastic container with 29 pieces of crack cocaine was found under her left armpit.
The popular Grey, famous for her massive girth, weighing a conservative 180kg, (nearly 400lbs), has appeared in a number of dancehall videos and on a number of stage shows as a dancer for several top entertainers.
While admitting to the charge of possession of crack cocaine, Grey pleaded not guilty to the charge of dealing and the crown withdrew that charge.
Attorney-at-law Dalton Reid, who represented the 39-year-old Gray, had told the court on her first appearance that his client "takes great offence to where the police said they found the drugs."
