Sean's happy New Year

SEAN PAUL'S NEW year definitely has been happy for him.

With his three Grammy nominations hanging over his head, he has scored again, which is more proof that he has deeply embedded himself into America's pop culture.

In BET'S annual roundup of the top videos for the year, Sean Paul's Get Busy music video came in at number three. This puts Sean Paul ahead of several leading Hip-Hop and R&B icons in the United States. The video, directed by the famed Little X, was voted as number three by fans of BET. The show was aired on New Years Eve.

Get Busy incidentally got Sean Paul really busy during 2003. It peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Hip-Hop R&B Hot tracks charts and was at one time number seven on the BBC charts in the U.K.

It was also certified Gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association, an award which made him join the likes of Shaggy, Bob Marley and Beenie Man as Jamaican artistes who have sold gold or platinum for a single or album in that part of the world.

Meanwhile, after just two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, his single with the sexy songbird Sasha I'm Still In Love With You, has soared to number 82.

Although it was originally released on the Dutty Rock album in 2002, it seemed to be overshadowed by his other videos Gimme The Light and Get Busy. It was added to MTV2's playlist late last year, and since then has been in rotation on BET as well. These, it seems, have given it the boost in popularity and subsequently the increased sales.
