Perry in Jamaica's 13

By ANTHONY FOSTER, Staff Reporter

OFFSPINNER NEHEMIAH PERRY is a surprise selection in Jamaica's 13-man squad for their opening Carib Beer Series match against Windward Islands starting on Friday.

Perry, 35, was not included in the original 16-member squad forwarded to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Omitted from the original 16-man party because of injury, Perry proved his fitness in the final trial match.

"I think I can manage a four-day game," Perry said yesterday.

Another surprise inclusion was left-arm spinner Ryan Cunningham, this since batsman/left-arm spinner Lorenzo Imgram will also make the trip.

Coach Robert Haynes is happy with the squad.

"I think they (selectors) have came up with a very balanced 13-man squad," Haynes said.

The squad: Gareth Breese (captain), Brenton Parchment, Keith Hibbert, Donovan Pagon, Mario Ventra, Tamar Lambert, David Bernard Jnr., Andrew Richardson, Evon McInnins, and Dwight Mais.
