A SIXTEEN YEAR old youth accused of raping a 12-year-old girl was bailed in the sum of $50,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's court on Friday.
The court was told by the investigating officer that on December 30 last year the complainant was sent to buy pain killer tablets at a shop in Crescent district, St. Catherine, when the accused, who lives next door the shop, held on to her.
It was heard that she was pulled inside a house he occupies with his brother and allegedly raped her. During this he was said to hit her in the mouth.
After the alleged ordeal she was given back her clothes and she ran from the house and was rescued by a relative and taken to the Spanish Town Police Station where her mother had reporting her missing.
A formal report was made and the youth picked up by the police and charged with carnal abuse, abduction and unlawful wounding.
