Western Confederation Super League heats up

Western Bureau:

NEW LEADERS TOMORROW'S People and fifth placed Altobar will meet tomorrow afternoon at the Bickersteth Community Centre in St James as the race for places in the mid-season finals of the Fred Smith Western Confederation Super League continues.

Tomorrow's People took over the lead in the competition after scoring a 2-0 win over Petersfield of Westmoreland on Tuesday.

The win carried last season's St James Hart Senior League champions to 14 points, one more than fellow St James team Mt Salem, both from six games played.

Altobar meanwhile were beaten 2-0 by Hanover's Bamboo, their second loss in three games played knocking them from near the top of the standings.

The Barrett Town based club could put themselves back in contention with a win tomorrow as they have a game in hand against the top teams.

Second placed Mt Salem who trail Tomorrow's People by a point will take on Studs at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth while third placed team Orange Hill will meet fourth placed Granville who are coming off a 1-0 win over Wadadah on Tuesday.

In other games scheduled tomorrow - Russia host Wadadah, Flames oppose Harmony while Bamboo play Petersfield.

Meanwhile the organisers have set dates for the completion of the first round with games to be played on January 17, 20, 24 and 27. The top two teams will then meet in the mid season finals before the second round gets under way in February.
