Portia loses Jamaica on her anniversary, outgoing prime minister trends amid disappointing loss
Outgoing Prime Minister Portia Simpson is trending in Jamaica amid the big loss suffered by the People's National Party (PNP) in Thursday's polls which marked Jamaica's 17th general election.
The loss is especially bitter for the Simpson Miller as February 25 marks her tenth anniversary as president of the PNP.
Already some political analysts say they are expecting 70-year-old Simpson Miller to step down from her post as party president very soon.
Many persons on social media are blaming the party's loss on their refusal to participate in the recent national debates which were canceled because of the PNP's withdrawal.
"I did not vote on promises. I voted out an arrogant government," one Twitter user declared.
